The University of California-San Diego was founded in the state of California in the year 1960 and caters to both undergraduate and post graduate students. The extension of the University of California-San Diego offers a paralegal certificate course for students who are interested in opting for a career as a legal assistant or a paralegal. The course focuses on teaching students about legal theory and the ethics and responsibilities of a professional paralegal. The course has been approved by the American Bar Association.

The paralegal certificate course covers a number of subjects, including legal communications and an introduction to the legal system and how it operates.
