Virginia Western Community College is a public two year institution that is part of the Virginia Community College System being the largest single-campus college in the system. Virginia Western Community College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate degrees. The institution is approved by the State Board for Community Colleges as well as by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia. It was founded in the year 1966. It offers day, evening and weekend classes as well as distance mode of education. It offers about 23 associate degree programs and 36 certificate programs.
