What is Civil and Structural Engineering?

Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of public works such as bridges, dams, roads, and buildings. It is the oldest engineering discipline after military engineering, and is found in all levels of society. General civil engineering is also called site engineering, and refers to the conversion of a parcel of land from one use to another.

Civil engineering is a massive discipline and is subdivided into many subfields. These include environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, surveying, materials engineering, and construction engineering.

About Civil and Structural Engineering

Civil engineering in the traditional sense is most similar to structural, building, and construction engineering.
