What is Thoracic Surgery?
Thoracic surgery is a branch of surgery that is concerned with diseases of the thoracic cavity, including the lungs, chest wall, and diaphragm. It is sometimes grouped together with cardiac surgery into cardiothoracic surgery (see cardiac surgery). Common disorders seen by thoracic surgeons include lung cancer, esophageal cancer, bronchitis, and emphysema.
