Volunteer Information for Brampton Arts Council

What services does your organization provide?
BAC Arts Guides (Winter & Summer): These pamphlets announces all group members' events from September to the end of August. A directory of all group members is listed for information. These are distributed throughout the City

BAC Newsletter: This quarterly newsletter is sent to all members to keep them current on the activities of BAC and informs them of other organizations' activities; politicians, business and people of interest.

BAC Website: Information at your fingertips of all the BAC has to offer: Events Calendar, newsletters, links, directory ... We provide links to all our member groups as well, as part of this service, we ask that there be a reciprocal link to the BAC..

HACET Directory: City-wide directory, categorizing the Heritage, Arts, Culture and Entertainment sectors.

Networking: Purpose designed for being in touch with the arts, groups, and people; making yourself known.

Advocacy: BAC acts as an advocate on art issues.

Resource: BAC Board and staff are available to act as resources or mentors in art business skills.

Liaison: BAC acts as liaison linking the artists with the public.

Rental Reduction: BAC member groups qualify for reduced city venue rentals.

General Liability Insurance: BAC group members, who qualify, can be covered under the City of Brampton Affiliation Policy.

Flow Funding: BAC, as a charitable organization, acts as the "flow through organization" for funding to groups who qualify.

CAP Grants: Allocates project grants, when funding is available.

Discounts: 10% discount at Curry's Art Store. Special discount at DULUX Paint Stores.

Photocopying Service: We offer photocopying & laminating to our members at a reasonable rate.

Postage Meter Service: Large mailings can be done at the normal postal rates.

Meeting Space: Boardroom is available to our member groups at no rental fee.

Information Centre: BAC maintains a library of information on arts-related groups and activities. Information on funding and reference materials is alsoavailable.

Promotional Opportunities: BAC advertises groups and promotes opportunities of public exposure

Networking Opportunities: We facilitate events that allow arts, groups and people to connect.


Do you have any age requirements?
Ideally, we'd like a volunteer who is 16 or older; however, we've taken volunteers who are younger when someone has demonstrated capability.


Do you require language proficiency other than in English?
No.


What time commitment(s) are you expecting from a volunteer?
You will provide a smiling face and helpful words to passers-by at Art in the Open, our major source of experience and hours for our volunteers. You will also assist in event set-up and take down. Other volunteer duties include: research, data entry, archiving, follow-up telephoning and general office administration.
