Volunteer Information for Canada Running Series

What services does your organization provide?
Our organization provides the opportunity for participants to run in an official race, to practice and promote a healthy lifestyle, set goals for themselves, and meet others. We also work with many charities and raise money (last year we hit over 3million!), we allow exposure to our sponsors, and we provide a fun and eventful day for race participants.

Do you have any age requirements?
The minimum age requirement is 14 years old.

Do you require language proficiency other than in English?
Proficiency in English is an asset, other languages are not needed but welcomed.

What time commitment(s) are you expecting from a volunteer?
Our events are seasonal and only happen on one day, therefore volunteers only need to commit to volunteering the one day (on race day!)

Are there any other requirements for being a volunteer?
A good level of English and a minimum age of 14 are the requirements

Are there any specific skills and experience required?
Volunteers should have good communication skills, should be outgoing, enjoy teamwork, and be detail oriented!

What type of volunteer positions are typically available?
Many of the volunteer positions are race day specific; such as setting up food and water stations, handing food and water out to runners, being marshals along the race course and making sure everyone stays on the route, greeting runners, handing out race packets to runners, distributing medals to runners after race, and more!

Is there any training provided for volunteers?
Yes, when volunteers first sign up, they receive a confirmation email with all of the information they need. Then on race day, volunteers receive onsite training by their supervisor.

What are the typical volunteer activities occurring at your organization?
All of the volunteer activities involve event planning and running races, before and during the actual event.

How will a person benefit from volunteering with Canada Running Series?
Canada Running Series offers many benefits to volunteers: FREE tshirt, food and drinks, and community service hours. It is also a great way to give back to the community and it gives volunteers a sense of satisfaction knowing they helped encourage others to lead a healthier lifestyle!

Do you accept high school students?
Yes, our program is very welcoming of high school students
