What services does your organization provide?
We build connections to build community. We help students succeed in school through the Pathways to Education program. Our Community Kitchen provides a safe place for women to learn how to work together and how to improve family nutrition. Our Time Bank encourages neighbours to help neighbours. We work to improve mental health in children and youth. We nurture collaboration among service providers through monthly meetings of the Multi-Service Roundtable.


Do you have any age requirements?
16 years old


Do you require language proficiency other than in English?
English is the main requirement, and we also welcome speakers of diverse languages to help us connect to newcomers.


What time commitment(s) are you expecting from a volunteer?
Volunteers can help for a few hours, for just a day, for a week or a month, or volunteer for a year or more. We are flexible to accommodate busy lives.


Are there any other requirements for being a volunteer?
In some instances a criminal records check and/or child abuse registry check must be completed, depending on the type of volunteering performed.


Are there any specific skills and experience required?
We are looking for a wide range of skills, from working with program participants, to fundraising, to helping with office duties or IT, to providing leadership on the Board of Directors or Board Committees.

We are always looking for youth tutors and mentors, for help with fundraising, for IT and communications, and for office assistance.


How will a person benefit from volunteering with Chebucto Connections?
Volunteers will feel that they belong and have a role to play. They will have an opportunity to network and meet new people. Volunteers will also know that they are making a difference to their community and to the lives of program participants.


Do you accept high school students?
We are sometimes able to accept high school students who are seeking to fulfill a graduation requirement for community service hours. AND we are often able to connect such students to other groups in our community who need volunteers.
