Volunteer Information for Clearview Public Library

What services does your organization provide?
We provide literary programming for babies, toddlers, elementary school ages, teens and reluctant readers. We also host an adult book club and special edu-entertainment events where volunteer help is most appreciated!

Do you have any age requirements?
We request that volunteers have already enrolled in high school (Grade 9). A completed volunteer application and volunteer consent form is required. Parents/Guardians are required to sign for volunteers under the 18 years.

Do you require language proficiency other than in English?
No - our patrons are primarily english-speaking.

What time commitment(s) are you expecting from a volunteer?
A three hour shift is appreciated but time commitments are flexible.
Special events timings vary from a few hours to a full day.

Are there any other requirements for being a volunteer?
A positive attitude and willingness to accept a variety of tasks.

Are there any specific skills and experience required?
No. We certainly appreciate people-friendly volunteers who enjoy working with the public - be it an age specific or a family friendly event. All sets of skills are useful from pouring coffee to shelf-reading to moving heavy boxes.

What type of volunteer positions are typically available?
Community Involvement Hours are always available.

Is there any training provided for volunteers?
Training is task-specific if required.

What are the typical volunteer activities occurring at your organization?
We always are looking for help for special events that occur during the year.

How will a person benefit from volunteering with Clearview Public Library?
We have a very active Library Outreach program that is dependent upon volunteer participation. A person would benefit by making new contacts with our community.

Do you accept high school students?
Yes - we request that they have a genuine passion for what happens in a library - be it planting sunflowers for the childrens' area garden to shelf-reading non-fiction titles to ripping up books left over from a book sale.
