What services does your organization provide?
The Hyack Festival Association has been coordinating major festivals and events on behalf of the City of New Westminster for the past 41 years including the iconic Hyack Festival held each year in May that culminates with the Hyack International Parade.


Do you have any age requirements?
We encourage volunteers of all ages to join us! Minors must be accompanied by their legal guardian.


Do you require language proficiency other than in English?
A second language would be an asset, but not necessary.


What time commitment(s) are you expecting from a volunteer?
We usually schedule our volunteers for 4-hour shifts.


Are there any other requirements for being a volunteer?
No.


Are there any specific skills and experience required?
No.


What type of volunteer positions are typically available?
Event Crew, Registration, Parade Marshal, Security, Info Booth, Vendor Support, Other:arts & crafts, kid's activities, etc.


Is there any training provided for volunteers?
Volunteers are given an info sheet and encouraged to ask us any questions when they check in with us. We usually have a 30-minute orientation for our larger scale events.


What are the typical volunteer activities occurring at your organization?
We usually recruit volunteers for our events but have had high-school and university students gain some work experience at our office.


How will a person benefit from volunteering with New Westminster Hyack Festival Association?
Volunteers will meet new people, be able to network at our events as well as give back to the community.

Yes.
