Volunteer Information for North Fraser Therapeutic Riding Association
What services does your organization provide? Therapeutic horseback riding
Do you have any age requirements? Must be 16 years of age and be physically fit. No horse experience is necessary
What time commitment(s) are you expecting from a volunteer? Volunteers commit to whatever # of hours they are available to help us. 2 hour to 20 hours per week and whatever days work for them.
Are there any specific skills and experience required? No
What type of volunteer positions are typically available? Leaders - lead a horse with a rider Groomers - prepare the horse for the rider Sidewalkers - sidewalk with the horse and rider to keep rider stable in the saddle.
Is there any training provided for volunteers? Yes, one on one mentoring until volunteer is capable of working independantly
What are the typical volunteer activities occurring at your organization? See above description
Do you accept high school students? Yes we work with our School District to provide work experience hours. Also we occassionally have Youth Diversion kids come and do community service hours.
