Institution Profile

Mälardalen University was established in Eskilstuna in Sweden in 1977. The university has the distinction of being the first university in the world, to be environmentally certified and work environment certified. The courses are all designed to ensure that the needs of the current labor market are met, with students being taught the importance of critical thinking as well as innovation. The university currently has about 15000 students enrolled.

There are a wide range of courses available at Mälardalen University. Students can choose from 15 international Master's programs, 850 courses, 40 supplementary courses, and 60 programs. Students can choose from a wide range of subjects like commercial law, intercultural communications and innovation technology. There are also study counselors on hand, to help students with course material or to assist in planning what course to take. Students can get guidance on matters such as, which courses lead to which jobs and what the current market trends are like. The university also offers online counseling and distance learning as well.

Mälardalen University has a number of special services for its students, including free train travel for certain areas. There is also a separate support cell for students with learning disabilities and those who are physically impaired. The university also runs a special workshop to help students learn how to write large assignments such as, theses and degree projects. Confidential and free health care is also provided for all students.
