Institution Profile

Örebro University is located in Orebro, Sweden and was founded in 1977. The university is currently home to nearly 15000 students and 1300 staff members. Already, the university offers students no less than 80 study programs, with 800 single subject courses and 50 subject areas to choose from. However, the curriculum is constantly being updated and new courses are being added, in order to keep up with the demands of the modern world.

The college is open to exchange students and free movers as well. There are currently eleven main departments at Örebro University, which cover subjects like clinical medicine and humanities to music and technology. The master's degree programs here are taught only in English and cover subjects such as, applied statistics and global journalism. Research opportunities are also available for eligible students and the university currently has five main research profiles.

Örebro University encourages its students to take full advantage of the university library, which houses a wide range of digital and print reference materials and resources. The library also conducts training seminars on developing information skills. Work stations are also provided for student use and are equipped with computers, printers, floppy diskettes and CDs. The university is also working towards strengthening bonds with the university and the community as well as local industries. It is hoped that these bonds will help accelerate the growth of the region in terms of both commerce and industry.
