Institution Profile

The Stockholm Institute of Education is based in Stockholm, Sweden and is the only independent specialized institute of education in the country. Started in the mid 1950s, the institute aims to provide comprehensive learning programs based on the growing and shifting needs of the education system. The institute is also home to the Campus Konradsberg, where a number of prospective and working teachers interact with one another.

All the study courses provided at the Stockholm Institute of Education lead to degrees in either Education or Social Sciences. The institute offers both academic and degrees in education. A teacher education program is also on the institute’s course list. This is a three part course that includes an independent study project and practical teaching in the field. All students, on the successful completion of their course receive a diploma supplemented with their degree.

The Stockholm Institute of Education is open to exchange students and students who are free movers. The institute is involved in a number of research projects which are broadly categorized into four profiles- curriculum studies, special education, pedagogy, and childhood and youth science. The main focus of these projects is to discern the optimum conditions necessary to encourage good learning. There are a number of clubs and unions which the students can join in order to cultivate their extra-curricular interests. The library can accessed for reference materials and resource tools.
