The Academy of Nail Design is a private career college recognized under the Private Career Colleges Act and is approved by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. The academy is also a member of the Board of Trade and the Better Business Bureau, as it offers nail care and styling services to the public as well.
The academy offers a diploma in nail technology, which is a comprehensive course, covering all aspects of nail care and styling. Payment plans and online classes are available. Students must pass a final exam before being awarded their diploma. The course offers both theoretical and practical training in all aspects of nail care, with specialized training in manicures and pedicures.
The course covers a wide range of topics that cover both the medical and aesthetic aspects of nail technology. Students will learn about anatomy as well as safety and sanitation issues. They will learn how to identify and treat disorders, infections or diseases of the nail. Students learn about manicures, pedicures, fiberglass and acrylic procedures, gel applications, sculpting and drilling techniques.
The Academy of Nail Design also provides a Mentoring program to provide a support system for its graduates. The academy also has a Vision Team program, designed to form a network of nail technicians and salons. Graduates may avail these resources in order to find employment or develop new contacts in the nail technician field.
