Profile of Career College/Trade School

The Institute for Human Services Education (IHSE) was founded in 1976 and was known as Child Development Services. It is located in Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada. It is a non-profit organization and was incorporated as a private college under the name of the Institute for Early Childhood Education and Developmental Services in 1992 but was renamed as IHSE in 2002. It is registered with the Department of Education Private Career Colleges Division.

The Institute for Human Services Education offers diploma programs in Early Childhood Education [two-year course], Special Education [one-year course], Youth Worker [two-year course] and certificate programs in Public School Program Assistant, Early Childhood Inclusive Education [two years of part-time study], and Continuing Care Assistant [one year full-time or two years part-time].

The Institute for Human Services Education has helped several students by following the Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition process. This process enables students to receive credits for college-level training outside a traditional classroom. Scholarships and bursaries are available for deserving candidates. Students who enroll for part-time courses can apply for scholarships after they complete 50% of their program. Career placement service is also offered to students.

The Institute for Human Services Education helps provide its students with theoretical and practical experience to become successful in their chosen professions. The teaching adult program enables students to become teachers; they take turns in teaching and participating in sessions where other students teach them.
