Ray’s Beauty School has been training students in the art of hairdressing and nails since 1991. It is a private postsecondary institution and has been accredited by the Private Career Training Institutions Agency of British Columbia. It caters to students in Vancouver and to international students from around the world. Its programs train students for meaningful careers in the hairdressing and nail business and to prepare them for the government exam. The Hairdressing Program is a full-time program of 1500 hours. The program is divided into three levels: Junior, Intermediate, and Senior. In the junior level, students are taught the basic theoretical and practical skills. In the second level, students build on what they have learned in the first level and are given opportunities to demonstrate their skills. In the final level, students are taught the advanced skills and are also taught salon business practices. Students are prepared for the provincial exam. Students are trained in a real-world salon environment. They get to practice their skills on real clients under the supervision of experienced and professional instructors. The Nail Program and the Up-Do Program are part-time programs, each of 3 months duration. Both of them are certificate programs. Financial assistance is available to qualified students. Graduates of Ray’s Beauty School can look forward to a career as a salon manager, product representative, color technician, salon owner, wedding/movie/theatre specialist, or consultant.
