Reimer Express Driver Training Institute (REDTI) is registered as a private vocational school in Manitoba under the Provincial Private Vocational Institutions Act. It is located in Manitoba, Canada. The aim of its program is to train students for the entry level tractor/trailer driversí positions in the transportation industry. Graduates of REDTI do not have a hard time finding employment.
It offers only one training program, The Professional Driver Training Course, which is of 13/8-week duration. It provides students an understanding of how a tractor/trailer unit functions properly. Graduates of this program earn a certificate from REDTI. They also get a Class 1S license from the Province of Manitoba. The class size is kept at around 24 students so that every student gets individual attention. The program has four basic components: Classroom, Laboratory, Range, and Street.
In the Classroom section of the program, students are taught about subjects related to professional driving, like vehicle systems and maintenance, proper inspection procedures, safe driving techniques, trip planning, and log books. The Classroom section is of 120 hours. In the Laboratory section students are familiarized with truck equipment and maintenance procedures and requirements. In the Range section students get the behind-the-wheel experience and practice. Range is a controlled driving area. The Street section, which is the last component, relates to the development of proficiency in regard to truck routes within the cities and nearby major secondary highways.
