Criminal Justice Programs, Courses and Degrees in British Columbia

  • Criminal Justice Program - Camosun College
    Camosun College offers both an Associate of Arts Degree and Diploma in Criminal Justice, both of which are 2 years in length and provide students 'a core of social science courses that examine the Canadian justice system, law and legal institutions as well as providing an understanding of modern society and individual behaviours.' The differences between the Programs are only in the electives the student has to take to attain his/her qualification and in the transfer opportunities available upon graduation.

  • Paralegal/Legal Assistant (Certificate and Diploma programs) - Capilano College
    The Paralegal/Legal Assistant Certificate and Diploma programs at Capilano College are 'designed to provide substantive and skills-based education' for those interested in a career or career advancement in the paralegal profession. The difference between the 2 Program is that the Certificate is a part-time program whereas the Diploma is a 2-year, full-time, on-campus program.

  • Criminal Justice Diploma - College of the Rockies
    The College of the North Atlantic's 2-year Legal Office Administration diploma prepares students for careers in legal or general office administration. Students will be equipped with 'with extensive knowledge and skills in the formatting and production of legal and general documentation, legal terminology, legal transcription and office management tasks.'

    Dawson College's Social Science Program focussing on Law, Society, and Justice is an interdisciplinary program which prepares 'students for university studies in the social sciences, as well as law, education and administration.' The Program provides participants 'with a broad social science background, while at the same time focusing on law-related issues.'

  • Criminal Justice Certificate - Douglas College
    Douglas College's 4-year Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, offered in partnership with the University College of the Fraser Valley (UCFV), prepares students for various careers and/or further academic studies in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a related field. For the Program's final year, students will transfer to UCFV where the focal point will be on 'unique worksite placements offering' practical, 'hands-on experience and employer contacts in the criminal justice field.'

    The Justice Institute of British Columbia's Certificate in Conflict Resolution: Mediation/Third-party Intervention Specialization 'is designed for people who perform mediation and third-party intervention in their jobs and for those who are planning to be self-employed as private practice mediators/interveners.' Participants will be equipped with 'in-depth knowledge and skills in formal and informal mediation as well as other forms of third-party intervention '

  • Bachelor of Arts In Community Criminal Justice - Kwantlen University College
    Kwantlen University College's 4-year Bachelor of Arts in Community Criminal Justice, with an Honours option, prepares students for a career and/or further studies in the area of 'community-based justice' The Program will develop and refine students' 'conceptual, critical and applied skills to work in both public and private sector fields where a legal/justice focus is beneficial.'

  • Criminal Justice - Langara College
    Langara College's 2-year Diploma in Criminal Justice prepares students for a career and/or further education in Criminal Justice or related fields. The Program equips students with an understanding of criminal justice-relevant issues in Canada and the world and with the academic abilities required for furture career and educational endeavors, such as analytical reasoning, communication, critical thinking, and research.

  • Criminal and Social Justice Diploma - Okanagan College
    Okanagan College's 2-year Criminal and Social Justice Diploma provides students with a broad, liberal arts-based education in criminal justice.   • Master of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice - University College of the Fraser Valley
