The Associate Degree in Legal Assistance or paralegal course of Ball State University is conducted thorough the Department of Political Science. Paralegals are employees who work for a lawyer, law office, corporation, governmental agency or other entity that performs legal work. This course consists of a strong curriculum and solid foundation which helps students gain entry into the extremely competitive paralegal field.

The Associate Degree in Legal Assistance program is a 67 hour course. 19 hours are reserved for general education topics like English, history, politics and computer science. Transfer students, in addition to other University requirements, must finish at least four of their legal specialty classes of three credits each at Ball State as approved by the Program Director.
