Prerequisites Needed to Study Agricultural Economics in Canada

The admission requirements for agricultural economics programs vary depending on the institution, but it is recommended that students have a strong background in both the sciences and social sciences. Advanced math courses are usually required, though if the program is offered as a B.A. rather than a B.Sc., the math and science requirements are usually less stringent.

Note: While both the B.A. and B.Sc. programs equip students for careers as economic analysts and provide good foundations for postgraduate study, the B.A.’s emphasis is on a liberal education, while the B.Sc. focuses more on agricultural sciences. Students should consider the merits of both programs carefully before choosing a direction.
