Prerequisites Needed to Study Astronomy and Astrophysics in Canada
The admission requirements for astronomy programs are usually similar to those of a general B.Sc. program; primarily, it is recommended that students have a strong background in math and science courses, particularly physics and chemistry. Calculus and/or other advanced math courses should be taken at the high school level. Getting involved in the local chapter of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (http://www.rasc.ca/) is a good way to get your feet wet in the discipline, and membership looks good on a university application to an astronomy program.
