Employment Resources and Professions Available to Atmospheric Science and Meteorology Graduates

Most careers in atmospheric science require at least a Master’s degree, and graduates may find employment providing weather forecasts to the public and to specialized users such as the military. Career opportunities are also available in environmental consulting, weather modification, pollution control, environmental impact and global change studies. The Meteorological Society of Canada (MSC) is a major employer, but there are also provincial departments and private consulting and engineering firms that employ atmospheric scientists and meteorologists.

The Meteorological Service of Canada site contains information and links to aid in your understanding of this field: http://www.msc-smc.ec.gc.ca/contents_e.html

UBC has a good careers link site for careers in atmospheric sciences: https://www.careersonline.ubc.ca/student/major.cfm?go=view&major=43
