Prerequisites Needed to Study Film and Video in Canada

The prerequisites for film and video programs vary depending on whether the program is offered as a B.A. or B.F.A. degree. For Bachelor of Arts programs (Film Studies), the entrance requirements are geared more toward achievement in areas such as English and other academic subjects. Admissions to B.F.A. film programs are highly competitive, with only 10-15% of applicants usually gaining admission. Interviews and/or letters of intent are also sometimes required for B.F.A. admissions, as well as a sample film or video produced by the applicant.
