Studying Graphic Design in Canada

Computer graphics students learn various techniques including implicit, procedural, and precise contact modeling and simulation that can be used for many applications, including gaming, animation, film, television and art. They learn the theory and practice of computer graphics, with an emphasis on understanding the principles underlying interactive computer graphics.

Students also investigate various applied research methods in software development. They study the principles and procedures of standard research methodologies in the context of software development, which includes the relationship between software development and fields such as MIS, systems analysis and design, data processing, knowledge engineering, and decision theory. As well, current critical technical issues and methods for software development are investigated.

Amongst the various technical studies includes digital image processing and manipulation. Students study basic digital image processing theory and the tools that make advanced image manipulation possible for day-to-day users. This includes tools such as Photoshop and GIMP to introduce image processing concepts. Students also discuss how to perform simple image processing programming with languages such as JAVA and Mathlab.

Students supplement their technical studies with studies in management issues. They concentrate on understanding and applying state-of-the-art management techniques to improve software productivity. Studies emphasize project leadership, communication, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
