Prerequisites for Graduate Studies in Inorganic Chemistry

A previous degree in a related discipline (eg. chemistry, physical chemistry) with a minimum B+ average (in some cases this must be an honors degree) is required for admission to a graduate-level program in inorganic chemistry. Some schools also require some form of practical experience in an inorganic chemistry environment (eg. directed studies, industry-related work experience, etc).

Admission to a PhD program in inorganic chemistry can either be directly from an undergraduate degree (in addition to already having extensive research experience, and being published in a peer-reviewed journal), or after acquiring a relevant Master's-level degree.

As all graduate programs require a supervisor, most schools require this person to be approved prior to final admission.
