What do Mathematics and Mathematical Science Students Learn?


Most mathematics students today choose to study a mix of pure and applied mathematics. Beyond topics such as calculus, algebra, probability, risk theory, fractals and number theory, they learn how mathematics can be used in real-world situations. They seek to find new structures, develop logical patterns and create models to explain these structures and predict their behaviour, often with the aid of computers. Many students today choose to combine their mathematics major with another major in fields such as computer science, physics, or engineering.
