What is Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation?
Physical medicine and rehabilitation (PMR) is a branch of medicine that is concerned with the well-being and health of people with disabilities or physical impairments. This is accomplished though the use of medications, therapeutic training, orthotics (eg. braces), and prostheses. Common conditions are amputation, spinal cord injuries, stroke, sports injuries, and brain injuries. A doctor in this field is called a physiatrist.
