Prerequisites for Graduate Studies in Physical Chemistry

Four schools in Canada offer graduate programs in physical chemistry: University of Toronto, UBC, UNB, and University of Alberta. Admission to the Master's program requires a completed undergraduate degree in a related field with at least a B+ average. Acceptable fields include chemistry and analytical chemistry. Previous experience in physical chemistry, such as that gained through co-operative education, directed studies, or an honors program, is an asset.

To be admitted to the PhD program, students must have a Master's degree; some schools allow direct entry from the undergraduate program with an average of A-. In all cases the supervisor must be chosen prior to final admission.
