The Alberta Academy of Aesthetics was founded in 1979 and is based in the province of Alberta. It is recognized as a licensed private vocational college by Alberta Learning and offers a wide variety of courses related to beauty education and spa treatments.
The academy prides itself in offering an updated curriculum that is tailored to meet the challenging needs of the beauty industry. Beauty services are provided to the public as part of the practical portion of the course material. These services include aromatherapy massages and medical laser treatments.
The Alberta Academy of Aesthetics offers a wide range of courses which will equip students to immediately enter the job market in a number of capacities. A full aesthetics course is offered which covers manicure, pedicure, make-up artistry and spa treatments. A specialized make-up artistry course is also available which covers color theory, product knowledge and make-up techniques for various kinds of photography and special events. A nail technician program is also available which covers aspects of manicure, pedicure, designs and paraffin wax treatments.
Students can also avail of the specialized program in facials and body treatments which consist of spa-related applications such as thermal masques and cellulite treatments. A course in electrolysis and waxing is also available. The academy has recently started a full-time aesthetics program that spans nine and a half months and covers all aspects of beauty care and spa treatments as well as Holistic treatments and medical aesthetics.
