Barrie College of Hair & Esthetics has been in the business of training professionals for more than 30 years. The institution offers programs in hairstyling, esthetics as well as several individual courses that can lead to a certificate. The institution has a modern salon which is operated by the owner/operator of the institution, Penny Abs. Penny Abs is a qualified instructor who has more than 25 years experience as a licensed and practicing hairstylist.
The students practice on clients in the salon which gives them valuable experience unlike just practicing on mannequins. The students learn to function in their work environment as well as learn the skills of managing a salon, building business and offering quality customer service.
Barrie College of Hair & Esthetics offers a 41 weeks hairstylist program of 1500 duration. It normally takes about 9½ months to complete it. Classes are offered Monday to Friday from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. The minimum qualification for students desiring to take up the program is a high school diploma or its equivalent. The tuition includes the cost of the kit, text books and guide.
The esthetics program is a 30 week, 1120 hour program. Classes are offered Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:00 pm. The program can be completed in 7½ months and the tuition fee may be a one time payment or a more flexible monthly payment. Individual courses in manicure, pedicure, makeup artistry and waxing are also offered.
