Earlier known as Joyce's School of Massage, the Northern Institute of Massage Therapy Inc. plays a very important part in bringing quality into the profession of a massage therapist. The Northern Institute of Massage Therapy Inc. is located in Red Deer in Alberta.
At Northern Institute of Massage Therapy Inc. the students are thoroughly familiarized with the structure and functioning of human body. They are trained to make hand movements with dexterity while messaging. Special tension points in body, which need relaxation, are taught to the students. These therapists are able to recognize various conditions of body and assign a particular kind of therapy or massage to treat the problem.
Northern Institute of Massage Therapy Inc. is a member of Canadian Council of Massage Therapy Schools. It has received accreditation form the Educational committees of the Association of Massage Therapists, Wholistic Practitioners (AMTWP), the Massage Therapist Association of Alberta (MTAA) and the Massage Therapist Association of Saskatchewan Inc. (MTAS).
NIMT also provides distance learning programs in training massage therapists. Workshops on onsen, Reiki, reflexology and la stone therapy are also held periodically. The trained students can establish their careers as massage therapists at centers for therapeutic massage or operate as private massage practitioners. The graduates trained at NIMT are easily able to get into prestigious institutions such as Massage Therapist Association of Alberta (MTAA) or of the Massage Therapist Association of Saskatchewan.
