What is Architecture and Architectural?Architecture is the art and science of environmental design. Architects are responsible for the conceptualization of buildings, parks, interior rooms and furnishings, and other human-occupied spaces.
What do Architecture and Architectural students learn?Architecture students study the history, theory, materials and techniques involved in the design of the human environment. Sub disciplines include planning (which emphasizes the design of communities and community systems), urban design, industrial design, interior design and landscape architecture (this last is covered in its own separate page on this site). The emphasis today is on sustainable development that takes into account the complex relationship between humans and their environment. Students use traditional design methods and media as well as computer graphics design and GIS programs in their studies. Practical studio work is a large component of architecture programs, and students develop a portfolio of work as they progress. Study abroad or internship at an architectural firm is usually an option.More information about Architecture and Architectural
