Studying Disaster and Emergency Management in Canada
Students learn the scientific methods to be applied to the problems of forecasting and dealing with natural and man-made emergencies. Students develop critical thought skills through discussion and case studies. The human element is stressed, as well as the physical and management services. Studies range from public information and media relations to high-level incident command and tactical skills such as studying a terrorist bombing site or controlling an emergency scene. There is also emphasis on the understanding of emergency preparedness as a form of environmental protection and control.
