The Immigrant Services Society of BC is one of the largest, multi-cultural services in western Canada. It was founded in 1972 and was the first immigration-servicing agency in the province. The Immigrant Services Society of BC is committed to identifying the needs of immigrants and refugees and addressing the needs by initiating effective programs and other services.
The Language College and Career Services, East Vancouver, is one of its divisions. It is a full-service training facility that provides programs and services in Vancouver, Richmond, Surrey and Coquitlam areas. The Settlement Section is another division that offers programs and services in the Lower Mainland. It was accredited under the BC Private Post Secondary Education Act in 2002.
The Immigrant Services Society of BC offers ELSA programs that can be taken up full-time or part-time and is offered in morning, afternoon, and evening classes. All instructors are highly qualified, and the students can make use of English learning software to help them. The Resident Care/Home Support Attendant program prepares students for jobs in the health care industry and students undergo 18 weeks of classroom training and 8 weeks of clinical practice.
The Hospitality Services program helps prepare them for jobs in hotels and restaurants. Pre-employment programs such as bridging for women and community assistance program are also offered. Services such as multilingual job counseling, career planning, job placement, and a commendable resource centre to help the students are also offered.
