Profile of Career College/Trade School

The Roofing Contractors Association, BC, Canada is a training Institute for the roofing tradesman and has, as its members, professional roofing contractors, manufacturers and suppliers in the roofing industry. The RCABC is affiliated with the Canadian Roofing Contractors Association, the National Roofing Contractors Association and the Western States Roofing Contractors Association in the USA. They are also a roofing issues advocacy group representing their members, the roofing industry and the general public.

While ensuring that its members are always equipped with the most recent developments in the roofing industry, the RCABC offers the Provincial Apprenticeship Program as well as journeyman upgrading for BC roofers. Throughout the year, all roofing tradesmen are offered training in all aspects of the roofing trade. They also have programs in job site safety. Course content covers a complete overview of the industry where contractors are taught everything from estimating to sales.

Roof, Damp and Waterproofing, and Residential Steep Roofer are the two credentials available for qualified roofers. After technical training is complete, flat roofing apprentices appear for an Inter- Provincial Red Seal Exam recognized across Canada. Apprentices working in the residential sector complete their technical training by writing the provincial Trades Qualification Exam.

Graduates of the Roofing Institute can expect careers as qualified roofers, going on to become journeypersons, foremen, supervisors, estimators, technical representatives, sales people and roofing company owners.
