What is Bioinformatics?

Bioinformatics (also known as computational biology) is the application of statistics and computer science to molecular biology, evolution, and epidemiology. It entails the creation and advancement of databases, algorithms, and statistical techniques to solve problems in biological data. Common activities include analyzing DNA and protein sequences, aligning DNA and protein sequences, and creating models of protein structures. The primary goal of bioinformatics is to increase our understanding of biological processes.

About Bioinformatics

Bioinformatics merges biology, mathematics, and computer science. It is also related to molecular biology and genetics.
