What is Journalism?Journalism is a course of study which prepares students for work in broadcast, print and web-based media, working primarily as reporters, editors and writers.
What do Journalism students learn?Journalism programs have changed and diversified over the last twenty years, and most programs now include a broad range of courses in everything from the place of journalism in society to new media and computer software applications. Types of programs also vary, including professional certificate degrees, four-year bachelor’s programs, and shorter courses of study for those who already possess an undergraduate degree. Some programs target careers in broadcast technology and the latest in Internet news services, while others emphasize a more traditional liberal arts approach, expecting students to major in both journalism and another area such as English or political science.
