Interesting Facts Founded in 1913, the University of Sudbury was the first institution of higher learning in Northern Ontario. The University is a bilingual (English and French) Catholic institution offering courses and programs in the liberal arts whose ultimate educational goal is the integration of Catholic beliefs with the principles of humanism and other religious faiths to create the basis for multi-dimensional, cross-cultural, and inter-faith understanding. One of the key components of the University's 'mission' is to preserve and develop the culture and traditions of the First Nations of Northeastern Ontario and it has developed unique courses and program towards this end. The University of Sudbury is a founding member of the Laurentian Federation, which was established in 1960. As a result of this Federation, students of the University of Sudbury are also students of Laurentian University and credit earned in a degree at the former can be applied towards a degree at the latter. |
