What is Physics?
Physics is the science of matter, energy, and their interactions. Physics covers a wide range of phenomena, from elementary particles (such as quarks, neutrinos, and electrons) to superclusters of galaxies. Physics relies upon mathematics to provide the logical framework in which physical laws may be precisely formulated and predictions quantified.
Some schools combine physics and astronomy into one department, while others maintain discrete departments. A physics program is often combined with an additional program in mathematics, chemistry, engineering, astronomy, or computer science.
Physics relies on mathematics, and is also intimately related to many other sciences such as chemistry and biology. It is also related to applied fields like engineering and medicine. Physics is often called the "fundamental science" because each of the other scientific disciplines deals with particular types of material systems that obey the laws of physics
