Founded in 1989, the Royal Canadian College has managed to attract students from as far away as Belgium, Brazil, China, Mexico, Singapore, and the United States in its short span of 17 years. The Royal Canadian College is a non-profit society registered with the British Columbia Ministry of Education. The courses of the Royal Canadian College are accredited by the Private Career Training Institutions Agency of British Columbia. Royal Canadian College teaches high school academic programs for the eighth to twelfth grade based on the curriculum set out by the Ministry of Education of British Columbia. The teachers at the college are licensed by the B.C. College of Teachers or the Independent Schools Branch of the B.C. Ministry of Education. Students can choose from a wide range of high school level subjects like English, physics, chemistry, biology, information technology, math, history, fine arts, and physical education. The college also has counselors who help international students with visa applications and legal issues. Housing is available at the homes of nearby host families as well as at private houses, apartments, and hostels for a fee. Students attend classes every week for 24 hours. Most students usually get early admission into Canadian universities and win scholarships of around $10,000. Classes are specially designed to prepare students for college, and more than 90% of students get accepted at top universities in the U.S. and Canada.
