What is Philosophy?

Philosophy, simply put, is the attempt to understand ourselves and our place in the world both in a moral and intellectual sense. Questions investigated by philosophers can range from the universal and timeless – Does God exist? – to specific and relevant to today’s headlines – What are the ethical implications of the development of genetic technology?


What do Philosophy students learn?

The study of philosophy teaches students (some would argue in a more effective manner than other subjects) how to think critically, to compose and present rational and logical arguments, and in general to be more effective communicators, all valuable skills in today’s economy.
