University of Winnipeg: Established: 1967 Number of Students Over 8,700 Programs Over 40 undergraduate degree opportunities from the Faculty of Arts and Science, in the divisions of education, humanities, science, and social science, and from the Faculty of Theology are available at the University of Winnipeg. The University also has 6 programs that are offered jointly with Red River College in administrative studies, applied biology, chemistry, communications, environmental studies, and developmental studies. Undergraduates are also given the chance to do research alongside professors, an opportunity typically reserved for graduate students. Students who receive the opportunity to engage in such research will also get credit for any findings and any material that is published as a consequence of the research. Seven graduate degrees, all masters, are also available. Three of the graduate options history, public administration, and religion, are joint programs with the University of Manitoba. Students in any of the joint offerings have the freedom to choose from which of the 2 universities they want their respective degrees granted as long as they submit their preference to the proper authorities before the expected date of graduation. The remaining four graduate degree offerings are from the University of Winnipeg’s Faculty of Theology and consists of the Master of Arts, Master of Divinity, Master of Marriage and Family Therapy, and Master in Sacred Theology. The University additionally offers 16 pre-professional programs designed to prepare students for career/professional programs. The University of Winnipeg began to offer graduate degrees in 1976, and the administration of joint masters programs are done in conjunction with the University of Manitoba. As such, each graduate student in a joint program at the University of Winnipeg can choose, upon written submission by the student prior to his/her expected graduation date, from which of the two schools he/she wants to be granted his/her degree.
